Stimulating innovation within the Blue Growth sectors in the Mediterranean area

4helix+ is a project aimed at stimulating, coaching and funding innovation within the Blue Growth sectors in the Mediterranean (MED) area. The project intends to improve the gap between the eight Mediterranean regional maritime clusters on the one hand, and within their respective four helixes on the other. This is envisaged to be achieved through an open source, knowledge sharing and community-based approach, resulting from cooperation with so-called “new innovation agents” and cultural and creative industries.

The 4helix+ project will upgrade transnational innovation process in both traditional and emerging Blue sectors in the eight MED regions, by establishing and organizing a cyber space, boot-camps, a transnational brokerage event, regional info days, and an innovation voucher scheme. Project’s cyber space will enable a matchmaking environment between the Blue MSMEs/START-UPs, on one side, and ‘new innovation agents’ (fablabs, co-working spaces, creative hubs, etc.) and cultural and creative industries (high-skilled companies, RDI centres, etc.) on the other.

The 4helix+ will award EUR 480.000 to at least 48 maritime sector projects under its Innovation Voucher Scheme. With its transnational partnership network and objectives, the project will contribute to relevant EU macro-regional strategies and innovation policies.

The project is funded under the Interreg MED Programme and its implementation period goes from 1st February 2018 until 31st July 2020.
